What Makes A Gift Meaningful? - with Barbara D. MacAdam

Meaningful Gift Ideas

We’ve all been there. You’re buying a gift for a loved one, and you tell yourself, “This time, I’ll get them something meaningful.”

But just as soon as you have the thought, you’re met with a question: What, exactly, is a meaningful gift?

Let’s think about that. A meaningful gift is one that the recipient will cherish -- not just in the moment that they get it, but for the rest of their lives. Ideally, it’s a permanent reminder of your love and gratitude for their presence in your life. Gifts with meaning are more than things. They’re symbols of something much deeper and greater.

And at Purple Wishing Gate, all of our gifts are made with those deeper, greater things in mind.

When we started creating our blessings for customers, we wanted to give them a way to express what ordinary gifts couldn’t:

Gratitude. When you’re young, it’s easy to take life and the people in it for granted. But as we grow older, we start to understand just how fleeting and precious our time on Earth is. In particular, we realize how special our loved ones are, and want to let them know how thankful we are to have them.

Of course, finding the right words can sometimes be a struggle. But with a blessing from Purple Wishing Gate, the words are already there.

Love. Love is such a powerful, universal force that it’s often difficult to express its fullness. Poems, songs, letters and simple, spoken “I love you”s do go a long way, but it’s often in gestures -- a tender smile, a reassuring squeeze of the hand, an arm around someone’s shoulder -- that love is truly felt.

And the gesture of giving a gift is no exception. Give your loved one the gift of a blessing, whether in the form of a framed print or a wallet-sized card, and they’ll always feel that loving bond close to their heart.

Faith. When all else fails, faith carries us through. Our blessings carry uplifting messages of enduring faith, reminding us all to be joyful in times of happiness and strong in times of trial. Faith is the greatest gift we have ever been given, and the perfect one to share with someone you love.

What’s more, you’ll know that the meaningfulness of your gift goes beyond the person you give it to. A portion of all of Purple Wishing Gate’s profits goes towards children with cancer. By buying a blessing, you’re giving children and their families support and hope for a happy, healthy future -- a gift that is, in a word, priceless.

The Spiritual Significance of Fall: A Season of Transition and Renewal

by Bill MacAdam December 10, 2023 3 min read

Fall symbolizes the divine concept of being reborn. This principle lies at the heart of Christianity, as we find in the crucifixion and triumphant resurrection of Christ. In our own lives, trials and tribulations can lead to profound spiritual growth. The barren trees of autumn remind us that periods of emptiness and stillness are preparation for abundant new life, just as Jesus spent three days in the tomb before His glorious resurrection.
